With effect from 1 September 2015, all flight bookings of the Lufthansa Group will be charged a new additional fee of 16 euros. This additional charge is called "Distribution Cost Charge" or "DCC" for short, and applies to all Lufthansa tickets worldwide - in case the ticket is purchased via a Global Reservation System (GDS) such as Amadeus, Saber, Travelport, etc.
Since companies usually do not ask their employees to book directly on the LH website (this leads to extra expenses in the booking, no price comparisons between airlines, no reporting, no simple central payment), this is an indirect price increase for all business travellers whose companies rely on efficient travel management.
The only way to avoid this fee is the usage of the interface Farelogix - see the corresponding post. Unfortunately, this interface also has disadvantages in the rebooking/rewriting and it depends on individual cases to check whether the use of this interface in the company is beneficial or not.
Your flight is more than 16€ more expensive: Did you check if you paid the service fee? The service fee is for Atlatos system use and service provided by the travel agency.
The many benefits offered by the Atlatos system and your travel agency are reflected in our corporate presentation.
